Outline of Poker Risk Strategy Workshop (PRSW)

• Poker is one of the fastest growing indoor ’sports’ in the world. While it has professional gamblers who make a living off it, Poker in itself is a fascinating game that blends numerous real world skills with psychology and intrigue.
• The PSW will comprise a full day and night Workshop for all participants, followed by another Review Session.

• Workshop-Day. During the day portion of the Workshop proper, the participants will be taught the basics of Poker, focusing on Texas Hold-em Poker. This will include:
  • Poker rules
  • Poker etiquette
  • Poker strategies
  • Calculating odds in Poker
• Workshop-Night. During the night portion of the Workshop, participants will be organized as individuals or teams, depending on the organization, and engage in tournament poker. Team Creativity will undertake every aspect of the tournament logistics including prize disbursement
• Review Session. The morning post-workshop, Team Creativity will conduct a debrief of the workshop training and tournament. We will facilitate employee introspection and discussion about key leadership competencies and the manifestation of them in Poker. These include:
  • Risk management
  • Positioning
  • Projecting Confidence (even as you bluff a dud hand)

• Real World Game. TeamCreativity does not espouse gambling. We support the use of Poker as a simplistic and popular platform to underscore real world competencies. This purpose is similarly promoted by the Global Poker Strategic Thinking Society in Harvard (www.gpsts.org).
• Fun. Learn the rules of one of the world’s most popular game of skill and experience the thrill of winning a hand by bluffing your way through stronger opponents.
• Team Building. We organize the tournament to ensure that teams support team strategy and win by doing so.
• Critical Thinking. Beyond understanding the odds, Poker requires us to probe deep into our psychological recesses to begin to overcome our visceral biases.
• Risk Management. Been losing tenders through conservative bids lately? Toying with the idea of increasing your debt leverage? Wanting to churn out bold products? You will need to increase your tolerance for risk. And no better way to learn this then on the poker table.
